Sara is lucky her sisters love her

It's Day PWA (Peruvian Wedding Adventure)- 1, and it's been hectic. Missy starts her grueling 4-plane trip to Lima TONIGHT, and I'm packing frantically (and, OK, drinking beer.) Who knows what I'll find in my suitcase when I get to Cusco? I like the surprise factor.

Anyway, so last night I spent hours iTunes-searching for songs called things like He Aloha Mele by people with names like Iva Kinimaka, for Sara's wedding playlist. Big surprise, these songs are not popular in the continental United States, and have been largely overlooked by commercial music sources. So the playlist may be... interesting. I substituted with Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg. I can only imagine how that will go over.

TODAY I was inspired to be a better big sister, and make Sara a cute shirt to wear at her reception. This plan involved a trip to Michael's, my personal version of purgatory. See why, left. Terrifying. At any rate, I went with the iron on letters, intending to spell out "Mrs. Bustamante" on the shirt. (Why, oh why, could the man not have been named "Lee"?)

It did not go well. I'll spare you all the (hours of cursing, burning myself, and permanently scarring my bathroom counter- not to mention my neighbors) details, but let's just say that Sara may or may not have to become "Mr Ustamant." It was a labor of love. I'm sure she won't mind.

Tomorrow I leave for Peru! I had better pack.

UPDATE: I may need to get some super glue.

  1. So, I'm looking on here as I should be packing... I leave in just a few hours, and my house is a wreck. I'm trying to fly without checking luggage.... I'm flying on FIVE airplanes to get there, and doing the math I'm pretty sure there's only like a 2% chance I'd end up with my bags. I did NOT end up with them last time I went to Peru, and let's just say that didn't go well.
Anyway. I've already sat on my carry-on to close it, so I guess nothing else is fitting in there.
Wish me luck.... I'm leaving in a few hours, but won't see Sara for almost two more days.
Amy-- can't wait to see you in the Lima airport.

  2. Awww....Molly that was so sweet.

Now Amy & Missy, just to set the record straight it isn't like it has been a cake walk for me EITHER!!! Flying from Honolulu to Peru is no picnic AND how about I have been up since 3:00 AM catching my flight from Lima to Cusco, spent ALL day running around like crazy trying to get all the documents in order, oh and had to visit a "clinic" for my medical exam, which was located in a building that looked as if it should have been condemned 50 years ago. It was absolutely horrifying. At least I am still living and hopefully haven't contracted any diseases at the "clinic". MOST IMPORTANTLY - DANIEL AND I GOT THE GREEN LIGHT TO LEGALLY GET MARRIED ON THE 20TH!!!!!!!!! Woo Hoo!!!
